Pillars of Eternity
Release Date: Winter 2014
Platforms: Coming in 2014 for PC, Macintosh, and Linux via Steam and GOG.
A to-be-announced platform for DRM-free distribution coming soon for Linux. Stay tuned!
Eternity aims to recapture the magic, imagination, depth, and nostalgia of classic RPG's that we enjoyed making - and playing. At Obsidian, we have the people responsible for many of those classic games and we want to bring those games back... and that’s why we’re here - we need your help to make it a reality!
Eternity will take the central hero, memorable companions and the epic exploration of Baldur’s Gate, add in the fun, intense combat and dungeon diving of Icewind Dale, and tie it all together with the emotional writing and mature thematic exploration of Planescape: Torment.
It's too early in development to give explicit hardware requirements, but our target is to run on older machines and to support a wide variety of hardware.
We will be announcing the system requirements at a later date so stay tuned for an announcement down the road.

This should be available a few weeks before the team hits a completed Beta. This is tracking for Summer 2014.
How will I get my digital copy of the game?
We now proudly support both GOG and Steam, so if you prefer DRM-free, you can choose the GOG option, and if you like Steam's integration, including achievements, and possibly cloud saves, you'll be able to choose that as well.
When you fill out your backer survey or pre-order the game, you will be able to select between these options.
If you buy additional copies as add-ons, you'll be able to tell us which one you want per key.
We do not yet have a DRM-free distribution partner for Linux, but we expect to have one available soon.
When will I get the rewards listed the Pillars of Eternity Kickstarter page?
This answer varies depending on the reward.
- Some of the rewards that are not directly tied to the game, such as the AMD Loot Bags, have already been delivered to the backers. These types of items will be sent out to backers when they become available.
- Rewards that are tied to the game or shipped together, a printed Collector's Book, for example. Will not be shipped until the game is available to the general public.
- Rewards that are in the game, such as in-game portraits, are tied to the release of the game and will be fulfilled when the game is available to the general public.
What languages will Pillars of Eternity be in?
The initial release will be in English, French, German, Spanish, Russian, and Polish. We are also looking for ways of translating the game for our fans all over the rest of the world. As we have more information and our funding increases, we’ll make sure to keep everyone update on what languages will be coming with Pillars of Eternity.
What about other platforms?
Using the game engine Unity, Pillars of Eternity supports Windows PC, Macintosh OS X, and Linux. Neither consoles or mobile devices will be supported.
What file formats will the Digital Download of the Soundtrack be available in?
Both MP3 and FLAC formats will be available for the soundtrack when it becomes available to download.
